Interested in Joining Us?
Our group is committed to building a research group, campus, university, and community in which all members feel -- both personally and professionally -- valued, challenged to grow, and comfortable being themselves. We want to introduce students to research who may never have considered it, and we adhere strongly to this rule.
We are not currently searching to fill specific positions, but I am always interested in recruiting talented postdocs, graduate, and undergraduate students from different disciplines. Postdoctoral candidates with overlapping interests not related to the above positions should also contact me, and consult UC San Diego's Office of Postdoctoral Affairs for information on appointments and funding sources. Graduate students need to be admitted to a program directly through the university; information on programs and application requirements can be accessed through UC San Diego's Graduate Division. Current UC San Diego PhD students interested in pursuing a 1-year exploration of the policy implications of their work may be interested in the GPS Science Policy Fellows Program. UC San Diego undergraduates and masters students can join the group for academic credit through ENG199, SIO199, and IRGN199/499 (Independent Study) courses. ESYS students interested in pursing a senior project should contact me in the late spring of junior year with a brief proposal. Funded research opportunities at all levels are available through the Frontiers of Innovation Scholars Program, and for undergraduates through the Summer Research Program, McNair Program, UC Scholars Program, CAMP, and through sources listed on UC San Diego's AcademicWorks site.
